What is this award all about?

As we roll up our sleeves for the final doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and daydream about holidays to Europe that are finally within reach, we sigh and exclaim:

“What an egg-straordinary year!”

Schools and universities were shut, shopping centres were littered with ‘closed’ signs - there was even a time where a pint had to come hand-in-hand with a scotch egg!

The Co-op’s Sourced Locally Award is a way to recognise and reward the diligent effort of its local suppliers who have ploughed through the struggles of the pandemic, ensuring the Co-op shelves remain fully stocked and customer safety and happiness is maintained!

We at Rymer Farm are therefore very proud to have been shortlisted for this award - it is a wonderful feeling to know that our hard work has paid off in keeping both suppliers and customers happy, and well-fed!

What has Rymer Farm achieved to be nominated for this award?

• We swiftly provided the Co-op with eggs to help with their unprecedented demand. Within a matter of days of being asked to help, our eggs were proudly sat on the shelves of the Co-op stores!

• We were able to meet the rising need for eggs whilst continuing to obtain much of our energy from the renewable sources we have scattered around the farm!

• And throughout this challenging year, we’ve maintained a very happy flock of healthy, hard-working hens!
